Terms of Service
Last updated: October 5, 2026
These terms cover GameTimer: the Windows app installed on a child's PC (the "PC app") and the parent web app at gametimer.emzlabs.com (together, the "Service"), provided by EMZ Labs ("we"). By installing the PC app or signing in to the web app you agree to these terms.
1. Free beta, and paid plans later
The Service is currently a free beta. During the beta we don't charge anything, and features may change, be added or be removed as we improve them.
After the beta, some or all of the Service - for example adding PCs to the web app or keeping them connected - will require a paid plan. We will announce this in the web app and on this page at least 30 days before it takes effect. You will never be charged unless you choose to buy a plan yourself, and you can stop using the Service and uninstall the PC app at any time.
2. Who may use it
You must be an adult, and you may install the PC app only on a computer you own or are authorized to administer, to manage a child you are the parent or legal guardian of (or are otherwise responsible for). Where the law requires it, you are responsible for telling the child, and anyone else who uses that PC, that GameTimer is installed and what it does.
3. What the PC app does
- It installs a Windows service that runs with administrator rights, so that a standard Windows account cannot simply turn it off.
- It tracks how long the apps you choose ("monitored apps") are running, and when the time limit is reached it closes them. Unsaved progress in those apps may be lost.
- If you turn on "Block ads in game apps", it adds entries to the PC's Windows hosts file to block known ad servers. Turning it off, or uninstalling, removes them.
- It updates itself automatically: it checks for new versions and installs them only after verifying our digital signature.
- When paired with the web app, it sends the information described in our Privacy Policy so you can see and change the limits remotely.
You can remove GameTimer at any time from Windows Settings > Apps (administrator permission required).
4. Your account
You sign in to the web app with your Google account and are responsible for keeping it secure. Anyone with access to your signed-in web app can change the limits on your linked PCs.
5. Acceptable use
Don't use the Service to monitor anyone without the authority to do so, to break the law, or to interfere with the Service, other users or our servers. Don't copy, resell, or try to get around the plan or licensing checks of the Service.
6. No guarantee
GameTimer helps you manage screen time, but it is not a substitute for supervision. A determined user with administrator access, another device, or technical skill may be able to get around it. The Service is provided "as is" and, especially during the beta, may have bugs or interruptions. To the extent permitted by law, we make no warranties and are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, lost data or lost game progress arising from the use of the Service.
7. Ending the Service
You can stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend accounts that break these terms, and we may change or discontinue the Service; if we discontinue it, we will give reasonable notice in the web app.
8. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. We will post the new version here with a new date, and announce significant changes in the web app before they take effect.
9. Law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea, without prejudice to any consumer protection rights you have where you live.
